VoIP and VTX™ Basics

Your own Virtual Telephone Exchange™ (VTX™)

The VTX™ is comparable to enterprise telephone systems. Essentially, it's a software-based PBX system or "soft switch". It provides a flexible platform for building a telephone system to fit your organisation.

Once you have a VTX™ you can start adding features and take full control of your telephone services.

Direct Inward Dialing (DID)

Next you add telephone numbers. Direct Inward Dialing (DID) is how we connect regular telephone numbers to your VTX™.

  • Order local numbers in many exchanges & many countries
  • Can be dialled from any regular or mobile telephone
  • Local Number Portability (LNP) makes it possible to "port" your existing numbers.

Whenever there is an incoming call, the VTX™ takes control of your call routing.

SIP on your VTX™

There are several ways you can communicate via your VTX™. The bare minimum would be to have the VTX forward all your incoming calls to you existing desk-top and mobile phones. But the real power comes when you direct connect to your VTX using the "SIP" device. SIP is an Internet standard for connecting audio and video devices.

Once these devices are connected and registered on your VTX, you can make and receive calls and even assign extension numbers to each device.
